OISA 2022 School of Astrophysics

OISA (Oukaimeden International School of Astrophysics) is a thematic doctoral school proposed by the Laboratory of High Energy Physics and Astrophysics (LPHEA) and the Oukaimeden Observatory. This edition will be organized in the framework of VLIRUOS project, a cooperation program between Antwerp University (Belgium) and Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco).
The recent development of the Oukaimeden Observatory currently allows the researchers of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics and Astrophysics (LPHEA) the use of several telescopes under the scientific cooperation programs KACCOLAR , MOSS , TRAPPIST NORD , OWL-NET and our OUCA Telescope operating fully in remote control mode. With the acquisition of an Echelle spectrograph we are developing a new research line that combines spectroscopy and photometry. This technique has already been tested and validated within our research team.
The OISA school, through its research topics and training, aims to introduce a dynamic partnership between researchers and doctoral students on the subjects currently being developed. The scope of this edition of the school covers the following fields:
• Spectroscopy of variable stars
• Near Earth Objects spectroscopy
• Radial Velocity for exoplanets
• Spectroscopy instrumentation
• Practical sessions of data processing
During this school a meeting between African astrophysicists will be organized to develop a new and original project : Mobility in Africa for Training, Education and Research: Network for Astrophysics (MATERNA). We will use the positive momentum of activity around astronomy in Africa to promote mutual cooperation and to enhance in the medium term educational, cultural, political and economic links between the African countries and the involved European institutions.
Moreover, a workshop for school teachers will be held in the course of the week, in order to encourage secondary school teachers to use astronomy as a gateway to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
